A National Council of Churches USA leader tweeted a reaction on Sunday to a shooting during a service at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, south of Milwaukee that left at least seven people dead.

"My heart aches for the [S]ikh community i[n] Wisconsin," tweeted Kathryn Lohre, president of the NCCUSA.

Lohre called for more gun control last month and cited her organization's efforts to advocate for new regulations on assault weapons and handguns after a shooting in Colorado where 12 people were killed at a shooting in a packed movie theater.

At least seven people are dead, including a gunman, police told the Associated Press. A SWAT team swept the building from noon to 1 p.m. and shots were heard coming from the building at 2:30 p.m. according to the report.
