'12 Monkeys' season 2 spoilers: Team deals with mulfunctioning time machine in episode 7

(SyFy Official Website)(L-R) Cassie (Amanda Schull) and James (Aaron Stanford), the leads of "12 Monkeys"

The time machine malfunctions in the upcoming episode 7, titled "Meltdown," of the second season of the neo-noir science fiction drama series "12 Monkeys."

Cole faces off with the Witness, while Cassie's hallucinations change to the next level. Meanwhile, deadly beings from the past arrive when the time machine gets out of order and causes time and space to tear apart.

The promo trailer for "Meltdown" shows James and the team deal with the time machine's malfunction. Katarina orders to shut down the machine. She notices that what happened is not an accident and that it is in perpetual splinter sequence. Cassie, on the other hand, has to deal with her hallucinations on her own.

In other related news, actress Amanda Schull shared the anger that her character Cassie has on James. The actress told TV Line, "The two of them have a connection that neither one of them understands, and there's a lot covering that up, especially at that moment, and a lot of confusion and frustration and resentment. And also, of course, superficial anger."

She also added that it doesn't make sense for Cassie and Cole to even exist in the same timeline because they are both from different times. "Their worlds are so different in every single possible respect. Also now, with who Cassie is, if she opens herself up to anything meaningful, there's a very big possibility that it'll just disappear and it'll hurt that much more," she added.

Meanwhile, here is the rundown of the previous episode, titled "Immortal."

Cole and Ramse's friendship was put to test when they travelled back to the 1970s of New York City to stop the Twelve from killing a Vietnam veteran, who has some connection to the Witness.

Catch the all-new episode of "12 Monkeys" season 2 on Monday, May 30, at 9 p.m. on SyFy.
