2014 MTV Video Music Awards highlights: Beyonce steals show, gives special performance

On the Run: Beyonce and Jay Z

The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards held at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., gave a lot of surprises to music lovers all over the world.

Stars flocked in formal and gaudy outfits to flaunt on the red carpet, and those who performed gave it their best to make their marks. With all the huge celebrities doing their part for the show, one artist stood out among the rest to be the show's star: Beyonce.

Beyonce was presented the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, a prestige that allowed her to perform a 16-minute larger-than-life spectacle.

Beyonce ran through the hits of her latest released called 'Beyonce,' and gave a stellar performance worthy of its own award.

Towards the end of her performance, the 'Single Ladies' singer gave her husband, rapper Jay Z, a kiss while he carried their 2-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy onstage.

This would break all divorce rumors and prove that the couple is indeed going steady.

With an attendance of chart toppers and legendary musicians, the event proved to be entertaining, though not so much as last year.

In a report, Rolling Stone said that there was no memorable moment in this year's show aside from Beyonce's magnitude of a performance.

The magazine did mention Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and Jessie J's performance as a highlight, as well as how Miley Cyrus allowed a homeless teen to make a PSA as her acceptance speech.
