2017 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive news: Sporty sedan with 600 horsepower available to purchase by September 2016

BMW has just unveiled the 2017 Alpina B7 xDrive, the third-generation Alpina-badged automobile based on the BMW 7 Series. The all-new BMW Alpina sedan has been designed to deliver exceptional performance and the highest levels of luxury.

The 2017 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive is powered by a new 4.4-litre eight-cylinder engine. The engine comes with Bi-Turbo charging, direct-injection and Valvetronic which helps deliver 600 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. The sporty sedan can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds and attain a top speed of 193 mph.

Power output was made possible by integrating a new air intake system, an intercooler and turbocharger configuration and a high-performance cooling system. The engine is also mated to an eight-speed Sport Automatic transmission with the BMW Alpina Switch-Tronic technology that provides excellent driving comfort for all road conditions.

The all-new BMW Alpina B7 xDrive has been equipped with Alpina's advanced suspension and chassis technology. The sporty sedan also features Integral Active Steering technology for the first time. The Integral Active Steering works with the powertrain and the all-wheel drive system to deliver a dynamic driving experience.

The 2017 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive features an athletic and elegant design with aerodynamic elements. BMW's iconic kidney-shaped grille comes with an integrated air flap control to facilitate the engine's cooling needs. The B7 can be equipped with either 20-inch or 21-inch aluminum alloy wheels paired with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The rear is also very elegant with its rear apron and sporty exhaust system with two elliptical twin tailpipes.

The BMW Alpina B7 xDrive comes in two signature exterior colors –Blue Metallic and Green Metallic.

Inside, the B7 comes with an extensive range of standard equipment. The cabin has been designed to deliver maximum comfort. Features include Nappa leather upholstery, leather-wrapped digital instrument panel and ceramic inserts.

The cabin also comes with signature Alpina design cues like LAVALINA leather, sports steering wheel with blue and green accent stitching, Timeless Piano lacquer or Myrtle Luxury Wood trims and "B7" badging.

Finally, the B7 comes standard with a full-color Head-Up Display, rear-view camera and infotainment system with navigation and connectivity options

The 2017 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive will be arriving in the U.S. by September 2016. Pricing and additional technical details will be announced closer to its launch date.
