Mercedes-Maybach has refreshed its S-Class lineup with the introduction of the 2017 S600 Guard – a special version of the flagship S-Class luxury sedan that offers passengers the highest level of ballistic protection. The armored S-Class sedan is perfect for heads of state, business leaders or those working in war-torn countries.

The 2017 Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard has a VR10 ballistic protection which means that the sedan's body and windows will be able to withstand steel core bullets fired by an assault rifle. The Directive ERV 2010 certification also gives the sedan the highest level of blast protection. Even with blasts from the side or underneath, the passengers are protected. The luxury sedan can withstand up to 15 kg of TNT blasts even from a distance of two meters.

In terms of looks, the S600 Guard also looks identical to the non-armored version. Therefore, the S600 Guard remains mobile and can avoid detection during and after an attack.

Underneath its sleek and luxurious design, the armored sedan comes with a reinforced base structure, a special underbody armor and polycarbonate-coated windows. The body panels also overlap at critical points for further protection. Despite its tough components, the S600 Guard is still a luxury vehicle. It uses the finest materials and the latest technologies.

The 2017 Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard also has a lengthened wheelbase which gives the rear passengers more spacious and comfortable interiors. The executive seats were also pushed further back to give passengers more privacy.

Powering the S600 Guard is a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that delivers 523 horsepower and 612 lb-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Suspension and other components have also been enhanced to handle the sedan's extra weight.

The 2017 Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard will make its public debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Pricing for the armored luxury sedan is at €470,000 which converts to about $514,000.
