Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are in for a treat as the upcoming 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' episode airing this week takes viewers back to last year's 'Captain America: The Winter Solider'. It's a particularly relevant tie-in as well, since the storyline in 'The Winter Soldier' included the dissolution of S.H.I.E.L.D as an aftereffect of the machinations of the terrorist group Hydra.

In the episode entitled "One Door Closes", Agent Coulson attempts to handle unresolved issues regarding two of his agents' true loyalties. A flashback involving Bobbi and Mack reveals the pair's actions during Hydra's surprise reveal as shown in 'The Winter Soldier', and Agent Coulson is shown to have knowledge of the two's differing allegiances.

In a special teaser clip on Marvel's official web site, Agent Coulson is seen interrogating Mack as he seeks to uncover who Mack is really working for and what his actual motivations are.

Also featured heavily in this episode is Skye, who is working to control her new abilities. But she may have to put that aside for the time being as she embarks on a life-changing decision that will have long lasting repercussions for all those involved.

Beyond this week's episode, future episodes this season could potentially contain an Age of Ultron tie-in. As reported in this article at Entertainment Weekly last year, the show's producers explained that 'The Avengers' is the tentpole that all Marvel franchises draws influence from, and 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' will be involved in one way or another.

With 'Age of Ultron' only a few weeks from being released in theaters worldwide, a potential tie-up in an upcoming 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' makes a lot of sense as part of Marvel's overall marketing campaign for the movie.

'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' airs this Tuesday at 9 PM Eastern on the ABC television network. It will return for its sixteenth episode next week with an episode entitled "Afterlife".
