AMD Ryzen release date, price, tiers, specs: AMD unveils new Ryzen details at CES 2017

Before 2016 ended, AMD unveiled the latest Zen architecture, which is better known as Ryzen. At this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the company teased more details for its upcoming Ryzen processors.

(Facebook/ AMD)AMD's upcoming processor is known as the Ryzen.

What we know from last year's event is that the Ryzen processors will initially target PC gaming. The rest of the mediums will follow eventually. The processors are one of the company's best, and these high-end tools are expected to compete with Intel's popular tech.

At the 2017 CES, which was once again held in Las Vegas, Nevada, AMD confirmed 16 AM4 motherboards, and most of them are from tech giants such as Asus, Gigabyte, and Biostar. AMD also announced over a dozen Ryzen PCs. All of these tech will be available on the same day the chip launches.

The AM4 motherboards carry varying chipsets, some of which are X370, X300 motherboards, and A300 boards. According to AMD, it plans on releasing upgraded motherboards every year or two.

In terms of CPU coolers, the company said that with 1331 pins in the AM4 socket, coolers that have bolts on their motherboards will need brackets. On the other hand, CPU coolers with clips rather than bolts will be able to transfer over to AM4 systems.

As previously reported, the AMD Ryzen will feature a 40 percent improvement in terms of performance. Its AM4 motherboard will be able to support the latest computing technologies, such as DDR4 memory, PCle Gen 3, USB 3.1 Gen 2, and NVMe.

Although the company has yet to set a specific launch date for the chips, at CES, it assured tech junkies that a number of Ryzen chips will be available during its launching. Furthermore, AMD will reportedly be avoiding a paper launch, a system that allows consumers to purchase the chips months before it actually releases.

More updates will be revealed in the weeks to come.
