'American Horror Story' actor Ben Woolf in critical yet stable condition since car accident on Thursday

The "American Horror Story" cast was struck with bad news on Thursday. Actor Ben Woolf, who played character Meep in season 5 named "Freakshow", was hospitalized following a car accident. The four feet four inch tall actor was allegedly struck by the side-view mirror of a passing SUV while crossing the street, reports Mail Online. The actor was allegedly jaywalking, hence a case against the driver has not been made. Moreover, the driver stayed on which means a hit and run case is also ruled out.

The actor hasn't opened his eyes since the accident and has been heavily sedated until his condition improves and vital signs stabilize. Woolf's family has been by his side since the accident.  However, the fact that Ben Woolf is stable should be seen as a good sign as he was critical and unstable after the accident.

"American Horror Story" creator Ryan Murphy has sent flowers to show his support. Cast and crew of the show have also expressed their support and prayers through social media accounts and by sending flowers to the actor. Zack Teperman, Woolf's agent, expressed the family's gratitude to viewers for their support, love and well wishes.

Actress Kathy Bates had also visited the actor after she tweeted that he was out of surgery. Co-star and best friend, Naomi Grossman, expressed her concern to E Online by saying, "It's awful to hear the news of your friend (in an accident). We're very close." Grossman played the role of Pepper in the hit show alongside Woolf. Several viewers of the show have voiced their concerns and support for the actor's health on Twitter.

"American Horror Story" has been renewed for a fifth season with 13 episodes. FX is expected to air the show in October 2015. So far, there has been no news of the cast either from FX or the show's crew.
