October 2014 not only saw the premiere of "American Horror Story: Freak Show", but also confirmed rumors of a fifth season being greenlighted for the FX show. Since then, fans have been speculating about what could take place in the upcoming series, given that the show seems to push the boundaries of the absurd and grotesque with every new anthology.

"American Horror Story", which first aired in 2011 with "Murder House", is a widely successful horror TV series produced by Ryan Murphay and Brad Falchuk, of the Nip/Tuck and Glee fame.

The success of the show is quite often attributed to its peculiar format with its show runners opting to stand alone for each season. Since its initial premiere, it has garnered critical distinction and a massive fan following, which has inevitably spawned three more series.

At the offset of season 4, which was entitled "Freak Show", more rumors and teasers for the fifth season have been confirmed.

The show's fifth installment, currently named "American Horror Story: Hotel" will be connected to the first four seasons and is said to be loosely based on the 1935 film "Top Hat".

The most highly anticipated aspect of the new season, however, is its star studded cast. Aside from AHS veterans, like Sarah Paulson, Chloe Sevigny and Evan Peters signing on, several new celebrities have also agreed to appear on the show.

Max Greenfield from "New Girl" fame is speculated to play a villain in the new series. Ryan Murphy, executive producer, went so far as to tweet:

"This October, Max Greenfield (like you've never seen him) is checking in to the hotel....but not checking out. #AHSHotel."

Fans, however, are most excited about Lady Gaga being featured in "American Horror Story: Hotel". With the show losing Jessica Lange, Gaga's addition is said to not only fuel the excitement among existing fans about the upcoming season, but also introduce the show to a new audience.

There has been no official announcement about the show's release date. However, according to The Wrap, the show is set to air by October 2015.
