'American Horror Story' season 5 spoilers, cast; Wes Bentley and Chloe Sevigny headline new episodes

FX's horror anthology show 'American Horror Story' will undergo a radical overhaul for its upcoming fifth season. FX Networks CEO John Landgraf, as per this article at Screen Rant, indicated that although he is unaware of the exact details, the premise for season five will be changed to help the improve the show. He added that he loves the versatility of 'American Horror Story's' anthology setting in that it allows the series to bring a new tone, setting, and cast of characters with each new season.

The fifth season entitled 'Hotel' will necessarily undergo major changes as former lead star Jessica Lange will not be appearing for the upcoming season. Lange shared that she thoroughly enjoyed her stay on the show and was thankful for the opportunity to play four different characters on the show.

As part of 'Hotel's' overhaul, the show's producers have enlisted a strong group of actors to play lead roles in the series. Wes Bentley, who appeared as recurring character Edward Mordrake in the previous season, has been upgraded to a series regular to help anchor the show. Joining Bentley are fellow returnees Chloe Sevigny and Matt Bomer, who both also appeared in guest roles in previous seasons.

Sevigny last appeared in American Horror Story's second season 'Asylum' where she played the role of an inmated named Shelley. The show's producers gave no indication as to what role the actress will play in the new season only stating that she will be a series regular.

Matt Bomer, who also had a guest role in the previous season, will be put in a lead role, this time starring alongside series newcomer Lady Gaga. Bomer has declined to comment on his character's relationship with that of Lady Gaga's.

Production on the new season is expected to commence this spring. The new season will debut on the FX Network sometime in October later this year.
