There are a lot of good things about the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for LG G2 which was supposed to fix bugs. However, some customers complained of strange errors popping up with the update, such as erroneous 'Knock On' and battery life issues.

Battery Drain

There are reports from LG G2 owners that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update has caused excessive draining of their batteries. They wonder why, as updates are generally supposed to lengthen battery life, while this update shortened it.

This issue might have been caused by the Location feature. Users can try fixing this by going to Settings -> Location - > Location Type -> Change to "Battery Saving Mode." Furthermore, the Battery Saver Mode can be enabled by going to Settings -> Battery section. This may help users get below 30 percent.

Battery drains may also happen for a few days after the update, since Android still has to do some synchronization in the background. This will be all resolved when Android is done with the installation and updates.

Deactivation of 'Knock On' Feature

Some users see their Knock On feature being deactivated by the software upgrade, by apps or by some other events. To resolve this, they can try going to Settings -> General -> Gestures. Then turn on Knock On/Code. If the problem persists, they can try recalibrating their LG G2's sensor by Settings -> Accessibility -> Touch & Hold Delay -> Tap. There are reports that changing the feature to Medium (from Short) solves the problem, according to some users.

Inaccurate GPS

Some G2 users are also plagued with inaccurate GPS. They can try addressing this through Settings -> Location -> High Accuracy. Another way is to install the free app GPS Status & Toolbox, which can be downloaded from Play Store.

Network Connection

There are also reported issues on mobile network connectivity, both LTE and 3G, where LG G2 owners reported they could not see the option to connect to their network. Users can try phone reboot; or toggle Airplane Mode to force connectivity. Turn on Airplane Mode then off again. This will shut down mobile radios of LG G2. Thus, when turned back on, the device will attempt to connect to the network.
