Following the Android 5.0 Lollipop (Android L) release date, the updated mobile operating system has started rolling out for Nexus and Google Play Edition devices, leaving Samsung Galaxy S5 and S4 owners wondering when will the update reach their smartphones.

Over the weekend, Sam Mobile released exclusive previews of Samsung Galaxy S5 and S4 running Android 5.0 Lollipop.

"Compared to the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy S5′s new Lollipop build hasn't brought too many changes, except for new icons in Toolbox, which allows quick access to a few functions from anywhere on the phone," Sam Mobile posted in one of its recent articles.

"Again, we aren't releasing the Lollipop firmware given its not the final version and has bugs," the article added

Gotta Be Mobile reported that the US release date of Samsung Galaxy S5 running Lollipop is already confirmed, and that a carrier is already in the testing stage.

Samsung Galaxy S4 and S5 presently run Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Even the company's latest high-end handsets, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge, have not updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop just yet.

Google unveiled the latest addition to its sweet OS line during the I/O Developer Conference last July. Since then, Android users have been eager to get their chance to try out the new operating system.

Android 5.0 Lollipop features the new "Material Design," dubbed by some pundits as "the best thing that happened to Android."

Nexus 6 by Motorola was the first confirmed device to get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, alongside Nexus 9. In the coming weeks, Nexus 4, 5, 7, 10 and other Google Play Edition mobile phones will also be receiving updates.
