Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for HTC One M8, M9 release date delay: AT&T holds off OS update

There will be a slight delay in the release of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS for the HTC One M8 and M9 subscribers under AT&T and such is likely to result in a lot of disappointed folks.

There was no reason given on the holdup per HTC product manager Mo Versi and the best explanation (for now) is that they are in close coordination with AT&T. As of the moment, there is no official date to expect, with the update merely mentioned as possibly coming out in the 'coming weeks'.

The delay is likely to draw the ire of a lot of restless subscribers who have been eagerly awaiting the update. Other carriers such as T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon have already rolled out their Android 6.0 M update to their customer base as early as February and the delays are sure to anger some who want to see the new features the update.

Aside from the important updates that will include security, other features AT&T folks will want to see are the improvements brought about by Android 6.0 M. That includes the 'Doze' app, which should help in prolonging the battery life of the device, improved app permissions and Google Now on Tap.

That and more are expected for people who want to see improved performance for their HTC One M8 and M9 devices, though issues concerning its certification is likely the cause. Carriers normally have to do the necessary checks before rolling out the latest Android OS to make sure that they don't cause problems once folks update their handsets.

With HTC and AT&T closely working together, many are hoping that the long overdue update rolls out at least this month. Disappointing as it may sound, AT&T subscribers can only wait and see when they can enjoy the new Android operating system.
