Android Marshmallow 6.0.update coming to Sony Xperia Z2, Z3, and Z3 compact

(Android)Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update is coming this April.

Sony users should rejoice because the Android Marshmallow is finally coming to Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, and Xperia Z3 compact.

According to Xperia Blog, the firmware build number of the Marshmallow is 23.5.A.0.570. It also mentioned that it is the same build number of the beta version. However, at this time, the update is only available in the United States, Ukraine, Russia, North Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. Other countries may wait a bit longer for an official announcement for the release of the said update. But for those who can't wait longer, they can download the firmware in Xperia Blog.

The firmware includes the camera 2.0.0 user interface and February Android security patch level.

For those who are unfamiliar, Android Marshmallow is an update released by Android that adds new features and functionalities in the phone or tablet. One functionality is the Now On Tap, which lets users access information through a single tap without the need to open another app for information. This is a pretty nifty function that makes information gathering easier.

Another is the battery life. Android has introduced two new functions, namely Doze and App Standby. Doze automatically puts the phone into a sleep state to preserve battery, while App Standby limits the usage of apps in the background when not in use.

Finally, in the field of privacy and security, the Android Marshmallow will be implementing a permissions system where users can decide which items can be shared over the Internet and those that should remain private. The update will also implement the fingerprint scan to secure the user's phone or tablet.

These are very powerful and effective functionalities that suit the average user. The challenge now goes to Apple and what it can come up with next in order to compete with Android.
