Android Wear 2.0 news: Guess Connect will use Android Wear

(Reuters/Rick Wilking)The popular clothing retailer brand will launch its Guess Connect product powered by Android Wear.

Guess will launch its Guess Connect powered by the Android Wear 2.0 at Baselworld 2017 that started on March 23.

The device will sport a circular screen, getting away with the more mechanical look of the original Connect model.

The device will also be available in 44-millimeter variant for male and 41-millimeter variant for female users. The device will also be encrusted with jewels and will be available in silver, gold, and rose gold.

Albeit having a fixed look, users may still modify their watch with its face and color options embedded in the system.

The units, however, will only be available for purchase starting fall or winter this year.

Meanwhile, ZTE — a Chinese multinational telecommunications company — is planning to release its smartwatch named "Quartz." The device features a crownless side button and an LTE connectivity. It will run on the latest version of Android Wear, but will not feature the Android Pay due to technical shortages.

On the similar note, Fossil will be incorporating the Android Wear system into their devices such as the Q Wander, Q Marshal, and Q Founder. These devices will enjoy the features of the operating system such as the on-watch Play Store, device navigator, standalone apps, and fitness program enhancements. It will, however, not feature the Android Pay feature since the watches will not be equipped with near-field communication (NFC) chips.

The wear watch from Tag Heuer will reportedly not feature its Swarovski smartwatch to the upcoming Baselworld 2017. After revealing the teaser of the product in the CES press conference by Qualcomm in January, and in the Las Vegas expo last January, the device will not be presented as planned.

The reason for the delay was not yet made public, but a statement from Robert Buchbauer, a member of the Swarovski Executive Board, to Wareable attributed it to the "Swarovski's strive for excellence in execution."
