Apple iOS8.3 jailbreak: unlocking of Apple Watch could mean iOS8.3 jailbreak is around the corner

Hackers and developers are currently working hard to produce a jailbreak for iOS8.3. The urgency to finally crack this version of Apple's operating system stems from the beta release of iOs8.4 and the rumors already circulating about the impending launch of iOS 9.

Thankfully, there has been a new and very interesting development late last week that has brought cheers among members of the jailbreak community. A hacker with the screen name @comex has posted a video on his Twitter account showing his Apple watch running Safari.

Comex did not explicitly say that the Apple watch running Safari has been jailbroken, but has tweeted "just a demo of userland code execution and Custom functionality can wait for a real jailbreak." The fact that the device is running software that wasn't pre-installed is exciting.

According to a report by Computer world, Comex's video has raised hopes among tech bloggers of an iOS jailbreak coming soon.

"While demonstrating how unnecessary it is for the Apple Watch to feature a web browser, Comex's hack shows it is possible to get the device to run arbitrary code. This could be the first step towards a jailbreak of the Apple Watch, although Comex makes no such promises. " said Carly Page, a news editor from INQ.

With Apple watch users already being able to tweak their devices to run software, a jailbreak for the watch is probably imminent. Since the operating system for the Apple Watch is similar to that on iPhones, a jailbreak for the Apple Watch could mean a jailbreak for the iPhone as well.

Earlier this May, MCrunch.com had warned users of jailbroken iPhones not to download the iOS8.3 update. However, with the exciting new development related to the unlocking of the  software running on the Apple Watch, the wait for a iOS8.3 jailbreak might finally be over soon.
