Apple, Inc. has shut down all rumors surrounding the Oct. 16 event as they unveiled a legion of iDevices, including the Apple iPad Mini 3 release date.

"We made iPad mini small. We made it fast. We made it incredibly capable. And now we made it even better. With advancements like Touch ID and iOS 8, and a new gold finish, there's even more about iPad mini to love," a parcel of the product description said.

It was early on rumored that iPad Mini 3 would carry the Touch ID or fingerprint technology that was first launched on iPhone 5S last year.

True enough, one of the underscored features of the smaller iPad is the fingerprint identity sensor. It makes use of unique fingerprint as password to unlock the device allowing for convenient purchases from iTunes, iBooks and App Store.

The iPad Mini 3 specs sports a 7.9-inch screen with Retina Display and IPS technology, 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution, 5 MP rear-facing camera, 1.2 MP FaceTime HD camera, and is powered by A7 chip with 64-bit architecture and M7 motion processor.

The launch of the latest iPad Mini 3 was given very little stage time at the Apple media event on Oct. 16. Marketing Head Phil Schiller only ran two slides that tackled features and pricing of the device, before moving on to another topic.

Some of the attendees were also quite unimpressed with the iPad Mini 3.

"I've got to be honest and say, the only impressive thing was the 5K retina display on the iMac," said Gartner analyst Van Baker, who attended the showing at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. He added, "The other things we saw (included) just iterative improvements on the iPad."

The iPad Mini 3 models with only Wi-Fi connectivity sells with a price starting from $399 to $599, while those with Wi-Fi and Cellular connectivity retails from $529 to $729.
