Apple iPad Pro release date, specs, rumors: Leaked schematics reveal exact dimensions and key features

A leaked schematic of the rumored iPad Pro, which had been earlier expected to feature a display of roughly 12.9 inches, has now revealed the full dimensions of Apple's upcoming device. These dimensions confirm the earlier leaked images of the protective case designs for the new tablet that had shown Apple's upcoming iPad Pro would be much bigger in size than its full-sized tablet iPad Air 2 and would be a mammoth device.

There have been rumors that Apple is working on a new 12-inch iPad, dubbed Apple iPad Pro and also referred to as iPad Plus. Measuring 305.31 mm x 220.8 mm x 7 mm, the iPad Pro will apparently feature a killer 12.9-inch display, making it Apple's largest tablet yet, and will be powered by the Apple A8X/A9 chip with 2 GB of RAM. Other rumors have claimed that the iPad pro will be powered by an A9 processor with 4 GB of RAM and 11,000 mAh battery, along with 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage options. The iPad Pro is also expected to feature Apple's famous Touch ID Fingerprint scanner and a killer stylus, while housing four speakers.

Earlier leaked photos of Apple's case posted on a French tech blog had shown the tablet measuring 306 x 223 x 7.2 millimeters (or 12 x 8.7 x 0.2 inches), which confirmed rumors that the iPad Pro would have a screen size of over 12 inches. The leaked case images also confirmed the speculation that the iPad Pro would feature a true stereo sound set-up, with openings for four speakers, one near each corner. The latest industrial rendering, dated December 2014, reveals a 12.9-inch screen iPad Pro with dimensions measuring exactly 305.70mm x 222.60mm x 7.20mm, or 12 inches x 8.7 inches x 0.28 inches. The blueprint also shows the unmarked back of the device, along with all four edges, while four stereo speaker grills can be seen along the top and bottom of the device, with the power button up top, volume controls on the side and a port down below.

The iPad Pro is rumored to cost "somewhere between the iPad Air and MacBook Air" and has been currently pegged for launch at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
