In preparation for the big Apple Watch release date in early 2015, Apple, Inc. has introduced WatchKit for developers.

"Apple Watch is our most personal device ever, and WatchKit provides the incredible iOS developer community with the tools they need to create exciting new experiences right on your wrist," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing in the official press release.

"With the iOS 8.2 beta SDK, developers can now start using WatchKit to create breakthrough new apps, Glances and actionable notifications designed for the innovative Apple Watch interface and work with new technologies such as Force Touch, Digital Crown and Taptic Engine," Schiller explained.

The tool is divided into two parts: a WatchKit extension that runs on iPhone and a set of user interface resources installed on Apple Watch. It also includes programming guides, templates and human interface procedures.

WatchKit will provide developers various ways to serve iPhone apps to Apple Watch via actionable notifications, Glances and WatchKit apps.

The iOS 8.2 SDK beta includes WatchKit, and will be readily accessible for members of the iOS Developer Program.

Additionally, Apple has posted a walkthrough video on its website for developers.

The Cupertino-based tech giant has been relatively generous in revealing bits and pieces of information about Apple Watch. There are several things that are confirmed for the wearable device at this time.

First, it will not be a standalone gadget and iPhone will be pretty much a requirement to access apps and more. Second, it is going to sport high-res screens in two sizes: 38 mm watch will feature 272 × 340 pixels and the 42 mm watch will feature 312 × 390 pixels.
