Fans have been waiting for a fifth season of "Arrested Development" ever since Netflix announced their intention to renew the series. It was supposedly due for a May 2016 release. However, by the looks of things, it seems that the date is a tad too early. Not a peep has been heard about the show's production schedule, although creator Mitchell Hurwitz has been working on some material.

The entire cast of "Arrested Development" would reportedly love to be back on and continue the show. But it seems that none of them know exactly when they're supposed to start, as they haven't been contacted.

Tony Hale, who plays hook-handed Buster Bluth, told Huffington Post recently that "everyone wants to do it."

The actor who plays aspiring magician Gob Bluth, Will Arnett, also shares the same sentiments. While appearing on Alan Carr: Chatty Man, the actor said that everyone is on board for another season but they don't know when it's going to start. He also revealed that talks with Netflix have been taking place.

On the other hand, Jessica Walter, who plays the Bluth family matriarch Lucille, told ET Online about the seemingly delayed production. "We heard we were going to do it, but that was a few months ago," said Walter. "But since then, I haven't heard a word."

But if "Arrested Development" does make it to the small screen once more, what can fans expect from the series?

Well, for one thing, it's not going to be shot the same way as season 4, which didn't have a lot of interaction between the characters. But that's not all. Season 5, if it comes to light, will take inspiration from murder mysteries, especially considering that the previous season left a huge cliffhanger: Lucille Two (Liza Minnelli) may have been killed.

Everything is uncertain at this point, but fans are undoubtedly hoping for the best. When asked by ET on season 5's status, Netflix had no comment.
