Following the launch of the much-hyped Asus ZenFone 2 in Asia, the smartphone is now finally set to arrive in the U.S., following its release in Europe last month. Asus has sent out invites for the launch event to be held in New York City that will formally mark the arrival of the ZenFone 2 in the U.S.

Taiwanese technology giant ASUS had first unveiled the ZenFone 2 at the International Consumer Electronics Show in January this year. The ZenFone 2 series has several variants with a display size ranging between 5-inch and 5.5-inch and 2GB to 4GB RAM. The Zenfone 2 is currently available in a few countries and Asus fans are eagerly awaiting its release in other parts of the world, with the 5.5" 1080p and 4 GB RAM model being the most sought after variant. Earlier, a factory unlocked variant of the Asus Zenfone 2 (bearing model number ZE500CL) with 2GB RAM and 4G-LTE connectivity was listed as "open for sale" on Amazon US, but without a manufacturer warranty unlike an official launch/release.

Last month, Asus had released all the three models, ZE551ML, ZE550ML and ZE500CL of the ZenFone 2 for Europe at a special event in Paris, France. At that time, Asus has announced plans to bring the ZenFone 2 to Canada in April, where it planned to sell the device through its retail partners, like Staples, Amazon or online, as part of its efforts to make inroads into the North American handset market.

Asus is now confirmed to launch the Zenfone 2 in North America on May 18 and has already sent out invitations to the smartphone's launch event. Asus has not yet confirmed which version of the Zenfone 2 will be launched in North America this month, but is expected to officially introduce both the 2GB and 4GB models. The company has also not provided any price details about the Asus Zenfone 2, but with the 4GB RAM and 2GB RAM models available on Amazon for $380 and $220, respectively, the official prices are likely to be lower.
