Atlanta Hawks trade rumors 2016: Paul Millsap to Spurs for LaMarcus Aldridge?

Due to the recent ruckus involving the San Antonio Spurs, a potential swap of big men could be on the rise, featuring All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge and the Atlanta Hawks' Paul Millsap.

The reason why Aldridge dwells in the rumor mill as of late is because of a report saying the Spurs might deal him away mid-season. When this circulated, numerous reasons as to why arose.

Some claim Aldridge is unhappy in San Antonio because he is playing in Kawhi Leonard's shadow.

Aldridge has already denied these specualtions but the rumors just keep on coming, and a suggested exchange sees him heading to Atlanta for the Spurs to land Millsap.

The Hawks might approve this for various reasons. First, despite all the issues, Aldridge remains to be one of the best big men in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Second, with them, he can be the face of the franchise, a role a lot of people believe he wants. This leads to the third reason which is him being the piece for the team to build around on as they move forward.

A frontcourt tandem of Aldridge and Dwight Howard could lead the Hawks to title contention, although the total opposite may happen and that is why pushing through with this is a gamble for the organization.

If the Spurs say "yes," perhaps it is because of last season's botched title bid. When they inked Aldridge, a majority of basketball fans and aficionados thought it would be them versus the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals. That did not take place and in the second round, they bowed out.

This is a just rumor as of the moment but it is feasible if both the Spurs and Hawks decide to pursue it.

Teams are aiming to have rosters that will give them the best chance of winning a title.
