'Attack on Titan' season 2 plot spoilers: Reiss family secrets to be exposed; Krista Lenz's identity to be revealed

("Attack on Titan" official website)"Attack on Titan" season 2 is expected to premiere in spring 2017.

"Attack on Titan" is expected to expose more secrets about the Reiss family once the animated series returns for another season next year.

It is widely believed that the royal family could be hiding the "Coordinates," or the power to control Titans, which allowed them to rule society for generations. Several reports suggest that season 2 will highlight the Reiss family, in particular Krista Lenz who is also known as Historia Reiss.

Yibada mentions in its report that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will reveal more secrets about the Reiss family, with focus on Historia or Krista, the heir to the throne and illegitimate daughter of nobleman Rod Reiss. Krista has managed to keep her real identity a secret but with the imminent rebellion against the royals, she might decide to show her true nature, leaving her a dilemma on whether to remain loyal to the Survey Corps or recognize and accept the fact that she is a Reiss descendant.

Meanwhile, season 2 is also expected to deviate from the original material. Itech reports that that series creator might not follow the plot found in the manga series. It is likely to make Eren Yeager, Mikasa and Armin face more challenges and go through significant changes in their lives.

Moreover, the series is said to bring a big surprise in the form of a new titan, which is described to be even bigger and more threatening than the Colossal Titan, Movie News Guide reported. The Colossal Titan is supposed to be the biggest titan in the series, but a new one is set to claim that title. It is even said that this new titan will possess a level of intelligence similar to a human's.

Fans will just have to watch out for more updates and surprises about "Attack on Titan" season 2. The new season is slated to premiere sometime in spring 2017. An exact release date has yet to be confirmed.
