The official poster for "Bates Motel" season 4 has been released and fans are going psycho over it.

The poster appears very simple and normal at first glance as fans just see Norman (Freddie Highmore) looking at the camera with just a hint of a smirk. It's when one looks lower and closer that things get disturbing as the teen is shown wearing his mother's pearls, with one hand apparently playing with the necklace.

The icing on the creepy cake is the tagline "she wouldn't even harm a fly," a very clever homage to Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic "Psycho." Fans of the movie know that Norman says the line towards the end, after his madness and crimes were finally exposed to the police.

The series is drawing closer to the events of the movie. At the very least, season 4 will show Norman's continued descent into madness. According to "Bates Motel" executive producer Carlton Cuse, fans will quickly see that the young Bates is becoming more like his "Psycho" counterpart, a fitting transition as the series is gearing up for the end.

TV Line reported that A&E had renewed the critically-acclaimed TV drama for a fourth and fifth season, enabling Cuse and "Bates Motel" co-creator Kerry Ehrin the opportunity to map out and finish the series properly.

The showrunners had long ago revealed that the show was a five-season series and A&E appears prepared to give fans the chance to see "Norman's transformation into the most notorious psychopath in cinematic history."

Cuse revealed more about season 4 during the Banff World Media Festival. According to the Calgary Herald, Cuse described season 3 as Norman becoming aware of the true nature of his blackouts while "season 4 is Norman unleashed." The EP further teased that from a young kid with family issues and blackouts in the first 3 seasons, the Norman fans will see in season 4 still garners sympathy but is also deeply unsettling. The character will also be driving the story more and will be doing some shocking things.

Season 4 of "Bates Motel" will return to A&E on March 7.
