The weapons set to be featured in "Battlefield 1" are expected to be different because of the World War I setting, and now, EA DICE has provided more details about them.

In a post on the game's official web site, the developer has revealed that there will be six categories of weapons inside the game.

Starting with the LMGs (light machine guns), these weapons are best suited for medium-ranged combat. However, those who prefer to engage their opponents within closer quarters may opt for the shotguns.

SMGs (sub-machine guns) are best suited for getting off quick shots within close range. In the meantime, sniper rifles excel at gunning down opponents from great distances.

Semi autos are some of the most balanced weapons in the game. And lastly, those that may be lacking ammo for the aforementioned firearms may have no other choice than to rely on their sidearms.

Each weapon type will also have different variants, enabling players to find the exact firearm that works best for them in "Battlefield 1."

The game will also be using pre-set loadouts for the different weapons, though the players will still be given the opportunity to customize them.

Each weapon type can also have up to three pre-set loadouts, with each one favoring specific stats, so again, players will be given the chance to see which setup works best for them.

"Battlefield 1" will also feature numerous melee weapons, and interestingly enough, some of these will be usable even beyond combat as they can also function as tools that can help players move around the maps.

Bayonets can also be attached to the different firearms inside the game, and when the cards are down and the bullets have run out, these weapons may be the only things that can save players from particularly challenging situations.

There will also be different types of grenades inside the game and deploying the right type at the right time will be crucial to a player's success.

It won't be too long before players get to try out these weapons themselves, as "Battlefield 1" is set to be released on Oct. 21.
