'Battlefield 4' news: DLC Final Stand available for free

(Battlefield 4 official web site)In anticipation of 'Battlefield 1,' the developers have given players an opportunity to get some DLC content for free.

In preparation for the release of "Battlefield 1," the developers have decided to give fans something to preoccupy themselves with by making "Battlefield 4: Final Stand" free for download on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.

The availability of this promo is from May 17 to 24. Those who are unfamiliar with the contents of this DLC, here is a quick rundown of what to expect. "Battlefield 4: Final Stand" contains new weapons, vehicles, and pickups that will increase gameplay and tweak strategies that players are accustomed to in the game. The new weapon is coming in the form of the Rorsch MK-1 railgun. This is a high-tech futuristic weapon designed to use ingnited kinetic energy to kill the opponent. If that isn't amazing enough, players can ride the Snowmobile or the Hover Tank HT-95 that are both capable of conquering the snowy terrain coming from four new maps. Finally, pesky pickups, such as a drone equipped with a machine gun and a decoy signal, can help the team get the upper hand in the battle or even turn the tide.

Gamers can also follow Battlefield's official Twitter account to track down and be updated when the multiplier event drops. This isn't the end of the free handouts the developer has in mind because it also mentioned that there will be other forms of handouts in the coming months leading to the release date of "Battlefield 1" in October.

This is turning out to be one strong marketing strategy by the developers and the team behind the game. Hopefully, the upcoming E3 event would bolster more hype and anticipation to this multiplayer shooter game. The challenge is then posted to the team behind "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" to urge them to top the bar set by this potential competitor.
