EA DICE has decided to go on a different direction by abandoning the modern warfare type of games and announcing one that's based on World War I, "Battlefield 1." As the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is fast approaching, more and more details about the game have been released.

On the official game website, EA DICE revealed the weapons of "Battlefield," teasing that once players get a copy of the game, they will "be carrying some of the most advanced weaponry the world has ever seen."

In a Q&A with weapons designer Julian Schimek, which can also be found on the game's official site, it was revealed how weapons in the upcoming game differ from the weapons in previous game installments. "The weapons of Battlefield 1 are a bit more specialized. To get the most out of them, you have to be aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and use the right one in the right situation," Schimeck explained. "Putting your weapon to good use will feel more rewarding than ever before."

The gadgets within the game may also appear different, as Schimek said, but that doesn't mean players won't find them unfamiliar. The weapons designer assured gamers that "Battlefield 1" players will "feel right at home" while using them. He also teased about the return of weapons customization and "amazing" weapon skins that EA DICE will talk about more in the coming months.

Alongside the reveal of "Battlefield 1's" weaponry, EA DICE has just released a teaser of the in-game footage of the much anticipated game. The teaser shows off the game's melee combat, which Schimek has also emphasized during the Q&A. Schimek said that fighting up close is more common in the game, just like how it was during World War 1.

The teaser video should whet players' appetite as EA DICE is set to release a new "Battlefield 1" trailer on June 12.

"Battlefield 1" is set to be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows on Oct. 21, with earlier access set for Oct. 18 for those who pre-order the Early Enlister Deluxe Edition.
