For weeks, the Internet has been buzzing about BlackBerry's impending new release codenamed "BlackBerry Dallas." While there has yet to be any confirmation from the tech giant regarding whether or not there is actually a Dallas handset in the works, several rumors hinting on the specifics of the phone have since sprung up online.

And the rumors have remained just that — rumors. However, it has been more than a year since the company introduced the BlackBerry Classic, so news about a new offering in development is not completely unfounded.

Several reports, recently published by Crackberry.com, have substantiated the rumors that Dallas is indeed in the process of being produced.

The website released a confirmation early in June when they provided a screenshot of the BlackBerry Dallas aka SQW100-4, being certified in Singapore through e-CoM.

In a separate article released last July 7, 2015, the news outlet has dug up import records from India claiming that the device has already been shipped to the country and is on its way to be tested and evaluated by the BlackBerry team in India.

More recently, BlackBerry10 FR, a French BlackBerry resource website, has claimed that "BlackBerry Dallas" would be released as "BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition." It would not be a brand new device as it will only be a rehash of the "BlackBerry Passport." This explains why previous rumored specs of the device seem oddly similar to BlackBerry's 2014 release.

Still based on blackberrycentral.com's recent report, "BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition" is expected to feature a 4.5 square touch display, 13 MP OIS camera, 32 GB internal storage, 30-hour battery life, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 with 2.2 GHz Quad-Core CPUs and a 3450 mAH integrated non-removable battery.

The handset would be running on the BlackBerry 10.3.2 operating system and would require a nano-sim.

BlackBerry has yet to comment on the BlackBerry Dallas or BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition's release, however, it is expected that it will not be long until the company releases their newest smartphone offering.
