'Blindspot' season 2 premiere spoilers: Jane Doe's identity, Orion will finally be revealed

(NBC)Season 2's premiere episode will finally reveal Jane Doe's identity.

The season finale of "Blindspot" finally provided a resolution to the Taylor Shaw mystery. Unfortunately, as the season drew to a close, viewers were faced with even more questions about Jane Doe's real identity. Thankfully, a lot of the questions will be answered during the first episode of season 2.

According to executive producer Martin Gero, Jane's identity will no longer be kept a mystery. Her real name, her backstory, and her history with the mysterious organization will all be revealed during the premiere episode. Season 2 will then shift the focus to Jane's former organization and discovering the identity of their mysterious leader, Shepherd.

During the season finale, Jane found out that her organization had been lying to her. Mayfair's death also proved to be a turning point for her. After playing both sides all season long, she decided to turn against her organization and side with the FBI. However, when the new season returns, Jane will find herself without her closest allies.

Her relationship with Kurt Weller has been severely damaged. Weller found out that his father had killed Taylor and that Jane was lying to him the whole time. Weller is very furious and will take it out on Jane. Meanwhile, Reade, Zapata, and Patterson will find it difficult to trust Jane after they learn about the truth. Jane, ultimately, will be blamed for Mayfair's death.

"She's in a real state of flux going into next season. It's going to be next to impossible for anyone to trust her again right away. This family that she's created herself is then shattered in a lot of ways. Going into season 2, a big thing for use is the show reinvents itself a bit as far a what these relationships are, can they be mended, and if so, how? I hope it's going to lead to some exciting storytelling," Gero told Entertainment Weekly.

Gero also revealed that the first two episodes of season 2 will finally reveal everything about Orion. Reade, Zapata, and Patterson, after uncovering Mayfair's files, will immediately turn everything to Weller, who is now the NYO head. Season 2 will also tackle why the organization handpicked Weller to replace Mayfair.

Based on the snippets revealed, season 2 of "Blindspot" is shaping up to be another thrilling adventure. Unfortunately, viewers will have to remain patient as the show won't be returning until later this year. In the meantime, viewers are encouraged to participate in the summer scavenger hunt developed by the "Blindspot" team.

Season 2 of "Blindspot" premieres this fall.
