"Bones" fans can rest easy knowing that Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz will be reprising their roles as Booth and Brennan for the show's eleventh season, but they should expect a lot of changes when the show returns this fall. The changes come as no surprise, especially since Stephen Nathan, who has been the showrunner of "Bones" for the past 10 years, left at the end of season 10. But before saying goodbye to the widely successful franchise, Nathan shed some light on what would be different in the upcoming season.

"Bones", which first aired in 2005, is a "crime procedural comedy-drama" loosely based on the life and literature of famed forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs. The show revolves around the partnership between Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, as they solve federal cases in Washington D.C. and neighboring areas.

The tenth season finale saw one big shake-up in the show – Brennan and Booth left the Jeffersonian in order to focus on their family. It has been confirmed that the couple will be returning to the institute in the show's eleventh season, though questions still remain about how their return would play out, given that Angie and Hodgins have taken over the lab at the end of season 10.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nathan gave the show's followers a glimpse of what could be in store in season 11:

"...the dynamics of the lab will definitely change. When Booth and Brennan return, life has gone on without them. People have become entrenched in a new structure, a new social order. Time doesn't stop. You can't go back and pick up where you left off. You can only pick up from where you are at any given moment. That's going to have a lot of great conflict and a lot of surprises for the characters and the audience."

Fans are already excited about the show's return, which is scheduled for fall this year. Season 11 will be overseen by the new showrunners, John Collier and Michael Peterson.
