The annual rave festival Burning Man 2014 is held in the remote desert Playa in Black Rock, Nev.

The week-long rave party attracts thousands of attendees each year, with an expected attendance of 70,000 this year.

Tragic news struck attendees and founders as an unidentified woman died in an accident involving a bus. According to the festival's official blog, the women fell under a bus that "carried participants."

The blog also said that Burning Man organizers are working alongside authorities, specifically with the Pershing County Sheriff's Office, and that the festival will release information as soon as they find out the identity of the deceased woman.

"This is a terrible accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and campmates. Black Rock Rangers and Emergency Services Department staff are providing support to those affected," said Marian Goodell, Burning Man co-founder, as posted in the festival's blog.

The festival was almost shut down due to rainfall, missing its planned opening date on August 25.

The festival's official Twitter account has been posting updates on its continuity, as well traffic updates, weather updates and tips for attendees.

"Black Rock City has shut down following rainstorms that left standing water on the playa, leaving it un-drivable," organizers of the festival said in a statement to LA Weekly.
