'Awakening' Black Ops 3 DLC Release Date on Xbox One & PC: Call of Duty Content Update Launches

The Awakening DLC of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is going beyond PlayStation 4 as reports say that it is finally hitting other gaming platforms. According to a report by Gamezone, the expansion pack is all set to arrive on Xbox One and PC on Thursday, March 3. The DLC was first made available to PlayStation a month ago due to the exclusivity deal between Sony and Activision.

But that is no longer the case as gamers can now finally play Awakening on Xbox One and PC. And because of the 30-day exclusive access to the DLC on PS4, the contents that are coming for the two other platforms are no longer a secret.

As noted in the source, the DLC marks the arrival of "Black Ops 3's" first DLC Zombies mission, which is called the "Der Eisendrache." The official description found on the Wikia says that the origin characters, Richtofen, Nikolai, Takeo, and Dempsey, will engage in a suicide mission to an enemy research facility. The setting is in a medieval castle atop a horrendous mountain, and in the map, there will be four new Zombie Mega Gumballs provided to help gamers fight the endless flood of the dead.

Christian Today reported that the DLC will be bringing to players four new and unique maps called Gauntlet, Splash, Rise, and SkyJacked. Gamers will be exploring through it and will encounter along the way different situations and mixture of challenges.

PlayStation Store detailed each map, and as written, the Splash map will be set in an abandoned water park, while Gauntlet will have Treyarch's classic three-lane map structure with three distinct environments. Rise comes with the classic cover combat, and the last one, SkyJacked, is said to be a reimagined version of the Hijacked map in "Black Ops 2."

The March update that contains tweaks and fixes for the game will be released along with the DLC.
