Baron Helmut Zero will be making a major appearance in "Captain America 3: Civil War," and the actor set to portray him has already started filming earlier this week.

German actor Daniel Bruhl, who made his appearances in the movies "The Inglorious Bastards," "The Bourne Ultimatum" and "The Fifth Estate" has been cast to play Baron Helmut Zero in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, "Captain America 3: Civil War." And Just Jared reports that he has started filming last Monday, July 6.

The showbiz news site says the 37-year-old actor arrived at the Atlanta, Georgia set of the new Marvel movie in his casual clothes. Donning a bluish-gray polo, white pants, and gray shows, Bruhl walked into set and got comfortable with the crew members on set by chatting them up before shooting started. Atlanta Filming also posted a photo of the actor on his first shooting day.

Baron Helmut Zemo is the son of Heinrich Zero, a brilliant scientist in cahoots with the Nazis, who invented the super-strong Adhesive X to use against the Allied troops. Heinrich was eventually defeated by Steve Rogers aka Captain America and his son Helmut Zemo continued his legacy.

In the comic books, Helmut is an engineer, whose villain instincts were triggered with the return of Captain America.

How much of the original comic story arc will be retained in the new "Captain America" movie has not been revealed. Marvel is yet to report on how Bruhl's character will unfold in the movie.

But the actor admits he is excited about the role. In March, he told The Independent, "I think I can tell you that without being thrown into Marvel prison... For the first few days I'll walk around like a little boy, just amazed by the megalomania of it. It's such a huge project. We could do 20 films with the budget."

"Captain America 3: Civil War" hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
