'Captain America: Civil War' spoilers: Chris Evans says it's not so clear cut as good guy, bad guy

The "Captain America: Civil War" promotional material urged everyone to, "Pick a side." And several reports have also lined up heroes on either side of Captain America or Iron Man. But at the end of the day, they all remain heroes, with no clear bad guys in the story.

Hardcore Marvel fans will not be too surprised about the plot of the upcoming film, "Captain America: Civil War." But even as they have picked their sides — Team Captain America or Team Iron Man — both really have their points. It is only just a matter of which reasoning one thinks is more valid.

"Civil War" comes in the wake of the Superhero Registration Act (SHRA), which calls on those with superpowers to remove the mask and get registered. In the comic books, the legislation happened after a bunch of civilians got hurt during a superhero-supervillain encounter in Stamford, Connecticut. Both in the comics and the movie, Captain America (Chris Evans) and Tony Stark aka Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) take different sides — the Blue, anti-SHRA and the Red, pro-SHRA.

But even with these opposing sides, Evans says he understands the other side's points.

He says in his Salt Lake Comic Con appearance, "[This] is tough, because even reading the script, you think I think I agree with Tony in a way, and I do agree that to make this work, you do need to surrender to the group. It can't just be one person saying this is right and this is what we're going to do."

But he also points out how the Cap can be right. He points out, and most fans will probably agree, that Captain America's moral compass is unquestionable. That struggle to trust himself and to understand the SHRA is what made the movie interesting, he says.

"[What] will make the movie great is nobody's right, nobody's wrong. There's no clear bad guy here. We both have a point of view, which is akin to most disagreements in life and politics," he adds.

Find out which side wins in the end when "Captain America: Civil War" battles it out in theaters next year, May 6.
