"Castle" provided an exciting season seven, but with the finale merely weeks away, fans are wondering how the season will end. Seasoned viewers of the crime and mystery drama will be happy to know that an intriguing investigation will lead audiences into Castle's childhood while Kate wrestles with her career and family.

The finale episode is titled "Hollander's Woods" and, according to TVGuide, it will follow the death of a woman in the woods. Castle becomes somewhat obsessed with the investigation since it is eerily similar to a terrifying event in his childhood. This defining moment in childhood, the event that lead him to be a mystery writer in the first place, will be seen by viewers. Creator Andrew W. Marlowe, who co-wrote the finale revealed "We get some answers as to why Castle became a mystery writer. We get to go way back into Castle's backstory. It opens up some old wounds and leads to a bit of an obsession."

Actors Lance Reddick and Wallace Langham are cast in secretive guest roles. Meanwhile, Kate will be at a crossroads, having to make choices as far as her career and family are concerned. TVLine recently reported that Stana Katic, who essays the role of Beckett, hasn't yet renewed her contract for season eight, sparking speculation that her character will leave the show. Her co-star and lead actor, Nathan Fillion, meanwhile, has renewed his contract for 2015-2016 if the show continues.

Katic hinted at a possible exit to TVLine back in November when she said if her character has nowhere else to go creatively, then she will leave "Castle". Will Beckett unexpectedly die? Will she leave Rick? Additionally, ABC has yet to announce if this is the show's last season.

"Castle" season seven finale episode airs on Monday, May 11 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
