It seems the Charlotte Hornets will still have one more season to develop with the roster they have after Al Jefferson revealed that he will be honoring the final year of his contract with the team.

Jefferson is known as one of the top centers in the league and among the few players with a very dependable post game.

He had signed with the Hornets back in the 2013-14 season (when they were still called the Charlotte Bobcats) and is in his final year of the three-year deal in the next season.

Despite a number of speculations that Jefferson would exercise his Player Option, the 30-year-old believes that he still has some things to finish with the team before moving on.

The 15th pick in the draft, Jefferson has played with the Utah Jazz, Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics and the Hornets.

In his two seasons with Charlotte, Jefferson has averaged 19.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.

More importantly, he has been the main catalyst as the Hornets try to develop their young stars like Noah Vonleh, Bismack Biyombo and Cody Zeller.

Jefferson's decision to stay with the Hornets will also help them decide on the direction their team wants to take for at least one more season, as they try to be a more consistent team who can regularly challenge for playoff spots.

With Jefferson in the middle, they can achieve consistency and have a player on whom they can rely during crucial times of the game.

Jefferson has also shown his dedication by telling reporters that he wants to lose around 25 points in the summer to become fitter and avoid more injuries, which could slow down his progress as well as his game.

This is certainly good news for Charlotte who are looking to maximize Jefferson's worth. And for a player to agree to the terms he initially signed for just goes to show his professionalism.
