Voight's (Jason Beghe) plan to nab the most notorious criminal in the city will backfire in the upcoming episode of "Chicago P.D."

In the episode titled "A War Zone," the synopsis (as per TV Guide) reveals that the entire precinct will be on high alert after several cases of drug overdose rock the Windy City. Based on the investigation, the victims all ingested a drug called fentanyl. Voight and his team's search will lead them to a college smuggling ring, where they will come face-to-face with an infamous crime lord.

For 15 years, the drug lord has escaped the citywide manhunt of the police. As per the promo, Voight cannot wait to get his hands on the criminal. He tells his men to be vigilant and make sure that the felon will not get another chance to bolt. Voight is confident he will get him this time, since his sting operation is foolproof. Unfortunately, something will go terribly wrong with the set-up.

In the teaser, the agents are shown closing in on the supposed hideout of their target. Everything appears to be going okay, but Voight has a nagging feeling that the operation is going way too smoothly. Soon after, a woman's voice is shouting that they need help. People begin running in different directions. It looks like the drug lord has set up a trap of his own for Voight and his men.

Meanwhile, Tay (guest star Li Jun Li) and Burgess (Marina Squerciati) will come across a bloodied child in one of their patrols. As they try to find his parents, they will learn that the kid is hiding a dark secret about his family. Elsewhere, Platt (Amy Morton) is waiting for Tay so she can tell her about her new assignment. It looks like Tay has been transferred back to her old post. Is this the end of her short partnership with Burgess?

"Chicago P.D." season 4 airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
