A new video created by the UNICEF, as part of its campaign against child marriage, has gone viral all around the internet as it highlights the importance of stopping the practice before more young lives are ruined.

In the video, a young girl is preparing for her wedding. At first, her face isn't shown and viewers may be tricked that the girl is of age to get married. By the middle of the short clip, the girl's face is shown, and obviously, she isn't happy to get married since she's not even old enough to know the meaning of true love.

According to The Independent, the child actress who appeared in the video is only 11 years old, while the actor, who played the role of the groom, was 35 years of age. The video also shows small shoes, a teddy bear lying on the floor, and a coloring book, which give viewers the first hints that the bride is only a child who still has to enjoy her childhood before venturing into the married life.

The video was released in time for celebrating this year's International Women's Day and has touched the hearts of millions of people across the globe.

Other outlets have reported earlier that young girls being wed to older men enough to be their fathers is a trend not only in India but also in other areas around South Asia and in the Middle East.

Africa is also one of the countries that see child brides as a norm, and according to the UNICEF video, 15 million girls will be married this year. The sad thing is, these girls are wed before they even reach the age of 18, making their entire lives miserable as they have not experienced childhood and its gifts.

A spokesperson for Bridal Musings, the company that worked with UNICEF to come up with the campaign, said, "About 15 million girls will be married as children this year - their right to a childhood ripped away." Statistics reveal that almost 1 billion young girls will be married as children if nothing is done to help stop the hot trend.

According to The Christian Broadcasting Network, UNICEF is currently working to strengthen the establishment of laws that will only allow women to be married as early as 18 years of age. The organization is also launching a program focusing on 12 countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, to help alleviate the economic status of families.

The said program is looking to help stop or at least lessen the number of young girls being forced into child marriage.
