If Civilization: Beyond Earth's screenshots appear to be charming, the latest cinematic intro trailer of the science-fiction title is way more impressive.

"In the twilight of Earth's great civilization, we're chosen," said in the intro of the trailer entitled "The Chosen".

"Some are selected for their skills, others for their strength. And some, by luck," the trailer added.

2K and Firaxis Games have joined forces to present fans with this stunning three-minute clip to keep fans motivated to purchase Civilization: Beyond Earth for its Oct. 24 release date.

But while the preview is visually stunning, it also embodies a great storytelling that underlines a depressing tale of leaving your loved ones behind.

In search of a new planet where humanity van be rebuilt, the chosen ones journey through space.

The game is inspired by the concept of plurality of worlds, wherein the idea of Earth not being the only planet inhabitable is highlighted.

"The world of Civilization: Beyond Earth poses the dramatic scenario in which the human race travels to various planets on which to settle. But how realistic is this scenario and how many places will we have to choose from 200 years from now? Predicting the future of science and technology is always a perilous task," according to a recent post on the game's official website.

For those who have played Firaxis' 1999 hit video game, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Civilization: Beyond Earth tackles similar humans-on-an-alien world theme.

Civilization: Beyond Earth is now available for pre-purchase from retailers and Steam.
