Cleveland Cavaliers free agency, trade rumors 2016: Andre Miller considered for PG depth?

It is no secret that the Cleveland Cavaliers lack depth at the point guard position, even though they have Kyrie Irving, Kay Felder and other guards who can accomplish the ball handling tasks. A few names were connected to them, but now, another one is beginning to surface and it is the veteran Andre Miller.

Miller is currently an unrestricted free agent and is among the group of familiar names that are still unsigned.

Perhaps the reason why Miller is linked to the Cavs is because he started his career with them before he became an efficient journeyman in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The Cavaliers selected Miller in the first-round (8th overall) of the 1999 NBA draft. He spent his first three seasons in Cleveland and was doing good before his stint ended.

Since then, Miller has seen action for the Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers, Washington Wizards, Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves and the San Antonio Spurs.

If the Cavs ink Miller, he is unlikely to have a resurgence and again be the potent scorer that he once was, especially with Irving leading the no. 1 position for the defending champions. But what he can do is come off the bench and be on the floor for 10-15 minutes for the main playmakers to have a little rest before heading back in.

Besides Miller's potential on-court contribution, his experience and veteran leadership is also beneficial to the Cavaliers.

However, as of the moment, it seems the point guard situation in Cleveland is okay, and if they are seeking for another court facilitator, they are likely going with a younger guy who has a lot of years in him.

Miller is a quality addition for any squad in the league, but in this stage of his career, signing him is risky.
