'Code Black' season 2 spoilers, air date: Eric Roberts, Camryn Manheim, Alexandra Grey to appear as guest stars

(Code Black CBS /Facebook)"Code Black" is set to return this fall on its Wednesday 10 p.m. time slot.

Before CBS' medical drama "Code Black" returns this fall for a second season, names of the actors that will be a part of the season have been revealed. The latest addition includes "The Expendables" star Eric Roberts.

Deadline recently reported that "Code Black" Eric Roberts is set to guest star in the upcoming season 2 of "Code Black." He will be joined by "Person of Interest" actress Camryn Manheim and "Transparent" actress Alexandra Grey. They are expected to appear in the episode "Life and Limb."

Roberts will play the role of Vince Savetti, an opportunistic yet sympathetic father who attempts to make his son get into an investment. Manheim, on the other hand, will play as the emotionally distraught wife named Alice, whose husband has sustained some serious injuries from a horrific accident. Meanwhile, Grey plays as the confident transgender woman named Beth.

Following the news that Christa's Bonnie Somerville and Neal's Raza Jaffrey are no longer returning for the show's next season, a major star was then added. "St. Elmo's Fire" star Rob Lowe was recently named as the newest series regular for season 2.

According to Variety, he will play Colonel Ethan Willis, a doctor who is assigned in the US Military's Combat Casualty Care research program, an extention of Angels Memorial Hospital. He was pulled out from a combat hospital in Afghanistan. His extensive military experience will be his asset in teaching combat medicine. Dr. Leanne (Marcia Gay Harden) approves of his aggressive and rule-breaking personality; however, not all doctors are welcoming of his style. Lowe's addition to the cast is just one of the several creative changes that the series is making.

Several fans of the show expressed their disappointment over the cast changes at a Q&A session with executive producer Michael Seitzman. According to TVLine, he even wrote, "

"No answer I give will be satisfying.... It sucks. Nobody — nobody — enjoyed this. Decisions like this aren't easy and are very complex."

"Code Black" is set to return this fall on its Wednesday 10 p.m. time slot.
