Unfortunately for the show's fans, Covert Affairs has been cancelled from USA Network's roster of shows after five seasons.

Viewers won't be seeing Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) on television any time soon, since the cancellation of USA Network's Covert Affairs has taken effect. Fans of the show are still hoping that the show will return after a petition to resurrect the show was made.

TVLine reported and confirmed the cancellation and says that it won't be back for season 6. The last episode served as the fifth season's finale, and executive producer Chris Ord thinks that it doesn't give a proper farewell. The last episode of the series saw how Ryan proposed to Annie, and while she thinks about it heavily, she also considers the job offer from Joan.

TV Line confirmed the news, that "Covert Affairs" will no longer return for another season. But the looming question right now is, was the season 5 finale enough to make it the series finale? Executive producer Chris Ord doesn't think it is. Fans of the show and its show runners think that the cliffhanger's answers will come in the sixth season. Unfortunately, fans won't be able to find out if Annie goes for the job or ties the knot with Ryan. Nevertheless, Ord thinks that the show runners did a good job for the entirety of the series even if he is not too happy with how Covert Affairs ended.

"We want the show to continue ... We're very proud of this finale. So at least we feel if we didn't come back, we'd be going out on a high note. We don't really like to think about it in those terms," said Ord to TVLine in an interview.

The show's star, Piper Perabo, expressed her gratitude on working with the show in her Twitter account.

"Thanks for all love for @CovertAffairs I will miss it but am so happy to have made so many great friends through it. Love you guys, xp" wrote the actress in her Twitter account.
