'Criminal Minds' season 11: Jackie Chan rumored to make guest appearance next season

Twitter is such a powerful tool.

A tweet sent from "Criminal Minds'" official account last week tagged Jackie Chan and immediately had people thinking that the iconic action star would be part of the show.

He is not (or at least, not yet).

The tweet was actually sent to promote the re-run of episode 18 of "Criminal Minds'" last season. The tweet shows a photo of Dr. Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) holding what appears to be a cup of coffee and with the message,

"@EyeOfJackieChan said 'coffee is a language in itself' @ the 2006 opening of his coffee franchise #CriminalMinds"

The quote was used by the BAU stalwart in episode 18 of season 10.

Even though the inclusion of Chan's handle might just be a little bit of friendly promotion, the fact that it generated interest should get the showrunners to consider finding a way to get the 61-year-old actor involved. The Hong Kong director, renowned for his stunts, could easily fit in as a cop or a detective.

This would tie in nicely with what producer, Erica Messer, said in past interviews, about bringing in guest stars to shore up interest in the series, especially since the new additions to the BAU team have not exactly worked out. The team's latest member, Special Agent Kate Callahan, would not be returning for season eleven. Her character, much like her real-life counterpart Jennifer Love Hewitt, was revealed to be pregnant last season.

The series is known for getting some notable celebrities to guest star. The latest addition to its roster of guest stars is Marisol Nichols. The actress was recently seen playing ATF agent/ Anthony DiNozzo's love interest, Zoe Keats, in "NCIS." Reports say the actress has been cast to play another federal officer, Agent Colburn, who is "a top agent at a Los Angeles outpost of the FBI."

Aside from Nichols, CBS revealed last month that "The Talk" co-host, Aisha Tyler, is onboard as Dr. Tara Lewis. The forensic psychologist has been picked by BAU Head, Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), to join the team.

"Criminal Minds" season 11 is set to return on Sept. 30.
