Dallas Mavericks, Dwight Howard trade rumors 2016: Chandler Parsons leading recruitment run?

Chandler Parsons of the Dallas Mavericks has been a key figure in the recruitment process, the last of which was the botched deal involving DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers. This coming offseason, he may be at it again and it will involve another big guy – Dwight Howard.

Howard is expected to opt out and join the NBA free agency where there could be a couple of teams trying to lure in the 6-foot-11 center. The Houston Rockets are unlikely to bring him back. Such should not be surprising particularly when the Rockets tried to deal him away before the NBA trade deadline back in February.

Parsons and Howard are friends though the big guy hasn't revealed his future plans. It may all boil down to what is on the table and the chances of any team at a possible NBA title.

Howard reportedly dismissed rumors tied up to a possible Dallas coming, though most of that was said when the Rockets had their hands full against the defending champion Golden State Warriors. But with the series done and over with, the questions are likely to buzz all the more moving forward.

Howard hasn't exactly had a stellar time in Houston and his bout with injuries are likely to be in consideration. If successful, the Mavs could finally plug in the hole in the middle which had to be filled up by Zaza Pachulia.

For Howard, Dallas could be a sensible choice. He has been known to struggle with star players in tow and the Mavs have so far seen equal billing to most except for Dirk Nowitzki.

Compared to the likes of the retired Kobe Bryant and James Harden, however, Howard has a better chance at hogging the limelight if he gets along with coach Rick Carlisle and the rest of the Maverick players.

Will he consider Dallas? It should be an interesting offseason for Howard as well.
