The Dallas Mavericks continue to add to their roster as they hope to regain their status as one of the elite teams in the NBA.

In the early parts of the free agency frenzy, the Mavericks have seen their names thrown around quite often, with departures from players and arrivals of stars all pointing in the direction that Dallas are looking to take.

First, Tyson Chandler departed for the Phoenix Suns, bringing with him a championship pedigree and a stellar defensive presence in the middle that Dallas will surely mix.

However, they were able to counter that move with the acquisition of DeAndre Jordan from the Los Angeles Clippers. What Jordan brings to the table may be what they lost with Chandler and even more.

He is a big defensive presence who swats the ball away, a big man who can clog the lanes and an acumen for highlights as he often goes up high for the spectacular finish.

Monta Ellis, one of the Mavs' scoring stars last season, bolted for the Indiana Pacers, leaving behind another hole to be filled.

The Mavs responded quite well by getting Wesley Matthews from the Portland Trail Blazers. He is a shooter who has range and can be very easily slotted into the starting line-up.

However, the Mavericks are not looking to stop soon. With the expected departure of Rajon Rondo, the Mavericks are looking for ball handlers who can help distribute the ball.

They claim that they are confident of re-signing JJ Barea, and reports revealed they recently signed Jeremy Evans to a short deal.

But the biggest news may be that they are orchestrating a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers that may bring in Jeremy Lin to man the point.

Talks are that it may be a sign-and-trade deal wherein the Mavs only lose picks, then it should be a good deal to bring in Lin who has faltered during his time with the Lakers.

If the move pulled through, it may be a way to revive his young career and still help the team head into the playoffs.

With Dirk Nowitzki's career at its tail end, it seems the Mavericks are still making moves to help the big German and the organization may be on its way back to being a dark-horsed contender.
