Dallas Mavericks rumors: Jeremy Lin move makes sense

As the Dallas Mavericks move forward from the whole Rajon Rondo fiasco, they continue talks to fill up their point guard spot.

Since signing from the Boston Celtics to the Mavericks, Rondo's tenure with Dallas has been nothing other than a train wreck.

And now that he is gone to the Sacramento Kings, the Mavs can finally start over and find a decent ball handler while giving the squad some depth.

They had JJ Barea last season but he is still currently in talks about a new contract since his expired last season.

Raymond Felton still has a contract with the team and is set to earn $3.9 million. However, he only featured in 29 regular season games for the team and can be traded away if the team sees fit.

Devin Harris started out as a point guard but has transitioned to the shooting spot and is tied with the Mavericks until the 2017-18 season.

That leaves the team with very few reliable options to man the point but all signs are leading to the arrival of Jeremy Lin.

They have been previously linked together but the noise is steadily growing that Linsanity may end up in Dallas before the new season begins.

The Los Angeles Lakers guard may be part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Mavs and it is reported that Lin is accepting a lower fee than what he currently has in order to get regular playing time.

In return, the Lakers may get Felton, who they can trade later on, or another player that they can use in their rebuild.

What Lin brings to the table is a young guard who is willing to do what the team needs without asking for a big salary.

Furthermore, he has history with Mavs forward Chandler Parsons during their time together in the Houston Rockets.

The Mavs are steadily looking like a playoff team and adding Lin to their roster may not make a big difference, but a positive impact nonetheless.
