'Daredevil' season 3 release date delayed due to 'The Defenders'? what to expect

(Facebook/Daredevil)'Daredevil' season 3 release will most likely be delayed.

Fans of Netflix's "Daredevil" series may be disappointed to know that its potential third season could be suffering from delays due to another Netflix title. It is widely believed that "The Defenders" is the streaming giant's new focus as of now, which might just put "Daredevil" season 3 in the back burner.

Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, two showrunners of "Daredevil," have been tapped to lead "The Defenders," a miniseries. This had led to a conflict in schedule, and although other showrunners may be hired to continue at the helm of "Daredevil," it is likely that a third season will just be postponed.

"The Defenders" will reportedly start production this year, but an official announcement regarding its release date has yet to be done. There is also the assumption that "Daredevil" might just stop at season 2 and that Netflix, along with Marvel, will just close out the series with "The Defenders." Of course, fans of the superhero are crossing their fingers that the two entertainment giants will not come to that decision in the end.

"Daredevil" season 2 ended with a bang. Karen had learned the true identity of Matt Murdock, Frank Castle burned his family house to the ground and the Hand had regained Elektra's body. As for what season 3 may bring, there's a widespread theory that Elektra may be brought back to life. Another exciting rumor involves Karen's ultimate murderer in the comics, Bullseye.

Bullseye was previously brought to life on the silver screen by Colin Farrell. He made an appearance as the villain in Fox's "Daredevil" movie, which starred Ben Affleck in the titular role. However, unlike the film, the first two seasons of Netflix's "Daredevil" was met with wide praise from critics and fans alike.

If a third season does get green-lighted, the general notion is that it could premiere in either 2017 or 2018. Since nothing has been set in stone so far, fans should take this news with a grain of salt.
