Bandai Namco has released the first of the three-part DLC of Dark Souls 2, Crown of the Sunken King for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

The official description of the first DLC reads:

"Embark on a journey to reclaim a crown that Drangleic's King Vendrick once owned. This perilous quest will lead you through an entirely different world within the Dark Souls 2 universe, where stepped pyramids span a vast underground cavern."

"It is said that one of the ancient crowns lay buried deep within these dark caverns; but surely such a valued item cannot sit unguarded. Explore in search of a crown that holds the strength of lords from times long past."

The new landscape is with a purpose and will require players to stop, think and experiment on best ways to get to the target destination.

The Crown of the Sunken King is a labyrinth packed with traps, surprises and hidden treasures.

There are two hidden bonfires: the first is located near the spike within the Dragon's Sanctum and the second will be revealed after shooting the center of a wall after passing the road to Elana, the broken staircase and the dark passage running perpendicular to the vast chasm.

The seven phantoms inside the Dragon Sanctum are too strong, but they can be vulnerable once a player destroys every red glowing armor suit seen along the walls when you enter the left descending stairwell across a small bridge opposite the spikes.

Shulva and Dragon Sanctum are jam-packed with arrows, bowsmen and spellcasters, and you will need to bring a bow (tons of arrows) or Binoculars.

A player can uncover Binoculars on a tiny path in Majula, which can be found before the entrance of Things Betwixt.

The second DLC (Crown of the Old Iron King) will be introduced in August, and the third and the last DLC (Crown of the Ivory King) will arrive in September.
