'Darksiders 3' release date rumored for the holidays; online shop now taking pre-orders

(Nordic Games)Inset is "Darksiders II" protagonist, Death. Rumor has it that "Darksiders III" will be released during the Holidays.

With "Darksiders II's" initial release four years ago, it made a successful run. And now, players are wondering as to when the next game in the franchise will be released. It seems that its new game developer, Gunfire Games, will be answering that question soon enough since there were reports suggesting that the game's third installment may hit the stores during the holidays.

An online shop that goes by the name Base.com is currently accepting orders for "Darksiders III." In its listing, the shop posted that the game will be out on December 31.
Nevertheless, the game publisher has yet to comment about it.

Furthermore, the protagonists of the first two games were two of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, namely War and Death. Fans are now making wild guesses as to who from the two remaining Horsemen will be the main character for the game's sequel.

Most of the players speculate that Strife could be the main character in "Darksiders III." The character dons two handguns in the game which are called Mercy and Redemption. Having said this, there's a big possibility that the next title could be a shooter game.

However, there are some who think that the next "Darksiders" will be featuring both Strife and the other Horseman, Fury, to pave the way for the game's fourth installment in which all of the Horsemen will be available to play.

As mentioned earlier, "Darksiders II" was previously developed by Vigil Games, but the game developer closed down and Gunfire Games took over the duties in developing the title's third installment.

Fans are now wondering how Gunfire Games will take on "Darksiders III," but as long as there's an assurance that the game franchise will resume regardless of who the developer is, players will still be there and will be getting their hands on future titles of the series.
