This week, "Destiny" fans have been gifted with a leaked poster of the game's alleged new expansion: "Rise of Iron." But the poster itself isn't the most exciting aspect of the drop. Instead, it's the rumor that suggests Mara Sov might make her huge comeback with the update.

Last Thursday, Reddit user viking805fan shared a picture of marketing materials that are said to be from the new expansion that Bungie is planning to unveil during this year's E3 convention. The update is expected to roll out in September so it is only acceptable that the development team is ready to give fans a sneak peek of the upcoming update come June.

Sources close to the game's development told Kotaku that "Rise of Iron" will come with a new raid which is even bigger than the previous ones. The poster's authenticity has also been confirmed to the gaming outlet.

The said raid has been on the table since summer of 2015 but it seems the launch was delayed as plans changed over the past months. Originally slated for release last month, the raid, which is set to center on the theme "Fallen with a twist," is now being perfected for "Rise of Iron."

Meanwhile, the most striking part of the leaked promotional photo is the three wolves featured in all their glory. According to Express U.K., the wolves may be hinting the return of Mara Sov, the Queen of the Reef. As fans know, Sov mysteriously and explosively disappeared in "The Taken King."

Rumor has it that Sov will return and the events that led to her disappearance will finally be revealed. Many fans adore the character and her return may be good for the franchise.

As for "Destiny 2," it's safe to say that it has been officially replaced with the launch of "Rise of Iron," though experts say there's nothing wrong with hoping for D2 to be out sometime next year.

"Destiny: Rise of Iron" will be unveiled in June, while "Destiny 2" has no official release date yet.
